Minutes of the AGM
held at The Methodist Church Hall Diss on Thursday 24 March.
PRESENT: Becky Whatley (chair), Richard Pither, Andrew Daniels, Andrew Eaglen, Lindsey Bilston, Chris Jewell and George Waterman, plus 38 additional supporters.
APOLOGIES: Richard Mabey, Dick Mitchell, Michael Garnham.
1. Opening remarks:
The chairman thanked all those present and referred to the previous annual statement on the website.
2. Annual accounts:
The accounts for the year to 31 12 21 were presented by the treasurer and adopted by the meeting.
3. Chairman’s report:
An upbeat account of the previous year’s activities was read out by the chair.
4. Election of new steering group:
The following were re-elected en bloc: Dick Mitchell, Becky Whatley, Richard Pither, Andrew Daniels, Andrew Eaglen, Lindsey Bilston, Michael Garnham, Chris Jewell and George Waterman. Julia Fairbrother was elected as a new member.
5. Following the meeting:
Professor Richard Fortey gave a fascinating account of ‘The human and natural history of an ancient beech wood in the Chilterns’.
